Where I’m From
I am from sparkly high heels and colorful headbands
From shopping at Justice and J.C. Penny
I am from my bright sunny yard filled with white daisies and pink tulips
From family gathered at Christmas
And my mom and her silly faces
I am from Dolores, and Tim
From Burns and Soule
I am from swimming and splashing and kayaking the calm river
From “Never give up” And “Always do your best”
I’m from Park-View and Velveta noodles, and pepperoni pizza at Little Caesars
I am from the special scrapbooks my mom makes
and the bureau filled with my pictures and cards
Emma,
ReplyDeleteI love hearing you craft your poetry. You have great descriptive details, and so many wonderfully different ideas. I specifically enjoyed reading the section of you essay that begins with, "I am from my bright sunny yard filled with white daisies and pink tulips" and ends with, "From “Never give up” And “Always do your best'". The way that you tell about your family makes me feel that you have close relationships with all of them. I also think that you probably love them all very much.
Your decription of the river allows me to feel how you have fun there because you used words such as "splashing" and "calm". You really did well by adding these to your piece.
The quotes that you have ("Never give up" and "Always do your best") makes me think that you have a strong personality. You truly do your best to do well in everything you do. Great job adding these quotes. Awesome...awesome...awesome!
I only found one little question about your poem. What is Burns and Soule? Maybe you could add some words that explain what these names are.
I can't wait to talk about this poem and share my own with you.
